Just landed!
This 1990 Range Rover Classic looks deceptively traditional, but is in fact a tastefully modified example of an iconic vehicle. Just like all Range Rovers restored by Atelier Beaupré, it has undergone a methodical frame-off restoration with an obsessive attention to detail.
The frame itself was sandblasted and then zinc coated. Subsequently an additional protective coat was added and the entire process ensures a high degree of resistance to environmental factors. All steel parts of the body were also sandblasted and zinc coated, and the restored front steel bumper retains its starting crank opening. The original wheels were also thoroughly restored in a process analogous to that used for the frame and the body. Carefully renovated, the tailgate hinges are zinc coated, too, and so are all bolts, hinges and brackets present in the car. All mechanical components, including the engine, gearbox, differentials etc. have been renovated with brand new parts employed where necessary. Alubutyl mats were employed in all areas of the body to reduce NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) to a level impossible to encounter on an original Range Rover in 1990.
The Bahama Gold Range Rover has only covered approx. 1500 km since its restoration, all of it being road testing mileage. It packs a serious punch with its 3.9 litre V-8 engine, coupled with an automatic gearbox which makes driving in today’s congested urban areas extremely easy; the power steering also contributes to that. Being able to use a restomod every day is a significant part of its appeal and here this example does not disappoint: a bespoke air conditioning solution keeps the occupants cool while seated on meticulously finished leather upholstery.
The mirrors are electrically adjustable. The sunroof and the windows, electrically operated. A retro-modern RetroSound entertainment unit is installed, naturally with Bluetooth capability. The restored wheel rims are shod with all-season Yokohama Geolandar A/T tyres and LED headlights are present to provide not only superior illumination, but also to give the only external hint of the vehicle’s superior specification.
Small, thoughtful touches have been added. Vintage Range Rover owners are very familiar with the difficulty of fitting the key in the ignition lock in darkness and a small, concealed light solves this problem. A buzzer is fitted which warns the driver not to leave the lights on when the engine is shut down. Everyday life becomes easier thanks to a remote-controlled central door locking system.
This beautifully crafted, modernised Range Rover is the right vehicle for today’s discerning car collector: whilst preserving its original character, it is much more user-friendly and pleasant to use in the current traffic environment. A sustainable way to enjoy classical motoring.
